Pastor John:

|
Pastor John was born in Boise, Idaho and grew up in Carlton, Oregon where he attended grade school and high school. He is a second generation pastor, his father having served in one church for over thirty years. He has been married to Maria since 1994 and is the proud father of three children, a son and two daughters. Upon graduation from seminary in 1996 John was called to pastor the Stanfield Baptist Church, a growing congregation in rural Eastern, Oregon. After his first meeting with the pastoral search team, the committee members stuffed six large watermelons into the small trunk of his Subaru Imprezza. Having now lived on Oregon’s ‘dry side’ for many years he has come to appreciate its big sky and unassuming beauty. John holds the following earned degrees: B.A. in history from George Fox University, Newberg Oregon; M. Div. from Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon; D. Min. from Knox Theological Seminary, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. |

Pastor
David was born and raised in the I-5 corridor of Oregon and
Washington. After he
graduated from Tualatin High School David attended Linfield and
Lewis & Clark Colleges as a football student-athlete.
He then traveled to Western Michigan University to complete
his BA in history and marry his high school sweetheart Erin.
They have been married since 2003 and have a daughter and
son. David and Erin later returned to Oregon to earn his M.Div. in
Theological Studies from Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Upon
graduation he spent a year as a high school history/civics teacher
in Tualatin, after which the Searight family moved to Scotland for a
year where David completed his MTh in Historical Theology from the
University of Edinburgh at New College.
In Scotland, David studied 17th century puritans
who were captivated by God’s love and wanted their followers “to
warm their hearts by the fiery coals of God’s love.”
When David isn’t reading he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking,
a good movie, watching “Top Gear” (a pleasure he discovered in
Scotland), and spending time with his family in the garden.
